Abstract: Progressions on account of digital technologies, such as various electronic devices,&#xD;
cell phone technologies, and information systems, among others, can be referred to&#xD;
as the fourth industrial revolution. The fourth industrial revolution is characterized&#xD;
by a sporadic adoption of technology in the business world; this revolution&#xD;
enabled organization to develop noticeable skills which aided the achievement&#xD;
of organizational goals. Hotel businesses have a face change on account of the&#xD;
adoption of technology. This book chapter captured digitalization of human resource&#xD;
management practices in the Nigeria’s hospitality industry. Discourse is captured&#xD;
under five sub-headings: an overview of hospitality industry in Nigeria; evidence&#xD;
from hotel businesses; human resource management practices in the 20th century&#xD;
vis-a-vis the 21st century; concept of digitalization; salient issues with respect to the&#xD;
core human resource management practices cum digitalization; and future trends&#xD;
in digitalization and HRM practices.</description>

Abstract: This study investigated the effect of road traffic congestion on firms' performance in Apapa &#xD;
Central Business District (CBD), Lagos, Nigeria. The objective of the study was to examine the effect of &#xD;
road traffic congestion in the business operating environment on firms' performance. Survey research &#xD;
design was used to gather data through primary and secondary sources. Three hundred and sixty-eight &#xD;
(368) respondents participated in the study through the filling (administration) of questionnaire. The data &#xD;
collected were analyzed using frequency table, mean rating, standard deviation and t-test. The results &#xD;
showed that road traffic congestion has negative effect on firms' performance in Apapa Central Business &#xD;
District. This paper concluded that firms performance in the CBD have been negatively affected by road &#xD;
traffic congestion. It was recommended that firms can actually move to a more comfortable zone to reduce &#xD;
stakeholders such as customers' and employees' stress of entry and exit in that location and increase &#xD;
business owners 'chances of expanding their businesses</description>

Abstract: This paper examined the effects of occupational hazards on workers’ performance in Nigeria’s cement industry. Survey research method was employed in conducting the research: a structured questionnaire was designed and administered to one hundred and eighty-three (183) workers of Lafarge Cement Plant in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study revealed that the frequency level of occupational hazards had a significant influence on workers performance; a significant difference exist between performance levels of healthy workers to unhealthy workers; and that safe workers had high tendencies of performing on the job than workers &#xD;
who were unsafe at work in the cement industry. The study established the relevance of workers wellness and safety to workers commitment to duties as predictors of workers’ performance. The paper advocates the promotion of global standard occupational health and safety practices in Nigeria’s cement industry. Specifically, the study emphasises the importance of a healthy workforce and work system, and suggestions were presented for improved occupational health and safety systems</description>

Abstract: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from every indication has not been able to provide the expected drive to the Nigerian economy in spite of the overwhelming support from government and other local and foreign agencies. Researches have attributed this observed concern to some armies of factors among which are owners’ knowledge gap and indiscipline, power inadequacy and failure, managerial mistakes, finance sourcing and management, crude technological applications, and regulatory burden to mention few with less attention to inadequacy in human resource management (HRM) and lack of purposeful human resource management strategies to address employees’ management. It was based on this observation that this paper explored issues within HRM and Nigerian SMEs to suggest basic pertinent strategies of HRM that can reposition SMEs in Nigeria to bring about desired economic growth and development of the country.</description>
